The Cook Islands... How you get here...

Scattered across close to 2.2 million square kilometres of the Pacific Ocean, the territory of the Cook Islands extends from 9º south of the equator at its most northern island of Penryhn, to just above the Tropic of Capricorn for its most southern island of Mangaia. To the west are the islands of Tonga and Samoa, and in the east lie the islands of French Polynesia.

The capital, Rarotonga, is approximately 4 hours direct flight from Auckland, New Zealand, just over 6 hours from Sydney, Australia, and under 3 hours from Tahiti, French Polynesia .  Regular direct flights are also available from Los Angles, making the Cook Islands a very accessible destination for air travellers.

Visitors travelling to the Cook Islands may find access via four international airlines, Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Air Tahiti, with flights arriving at Rarotonga’s international airport.  Rarotonga is an ideal destination for a stopover for those on their way to or from Australia and New Zealand, or the Cook Islands are a wonderful location to explore as a holiday destination in its own right.

Air New Zealand provides regular scheduled services from Australian cities through Auckland, New Zealand to the Cook Islands as well as through London from many European cities , Los Angeles from North American cities and from many Asian cities such as Hong Kong, Shanghai ,Tokyo and Beijing through Auckland.

Regional airlines, Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti share and operate flights between Rarotonga and nearby Tahiti, while Air Rarotonga provides domestic airline services to the various islands within the Cook Islands.

Cruise Ships visit frequently throughout the year to Rarotonga, for those with a preference to travel by sea, and specialty cruise liners also make visits to some of outer islands within the Cook Islands.
